If I participate in the new Uber car service will my personal automobile policy cover me? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
While renting out yourself and your car to transport others may be a good way to earn extra money in your spare time, you will be violating the provisions of your insurance policy which prohibit using your auto “for hire”. There is a provision in virtually every personal automobile policy that specifically addresses that question and excludes:
…..“that “insured’s” liability arising out of the ownership or operation of a vehicle while it is being used as a public or livery conveyance. This Exclusion (A.5.) does not apply to a share-the-expense car pool.”
So, while you may feel that it is something you’d like to try, you will leave yourself open to a substantial liability risk for you and your passengers.
We are no more than a phone call or email away! We look forward to providing you with exceptional service.
