Spring is here, and now can be a good time to remind yourself on how to keep your property prepared for next winter.
1. Drain water from all outside places, such as: a swimming pool and the lines that service it; sprinkler systems; hoses and any other device that has water in it.
2. Close and drain outside supply valves and hose bibs. Leave the outside valve open to provide expansion room for any water that remains in the line.
3. Check all around the home in the basement, crawl spaces and unheated attic and storage areas for uninsulated pipes. If there are pipes there insulate them thoroughly or install heat tape or heat cable.
