The Insurance Research Counsel’s 2014 report on automobile insurance estimates that Rhode Island ranks in the top 10 for the highest percentage of drivers without insurance.
As a responsible driver who has insurance coverage for their car, what does that mean to you? It means that it is very important that you maintain your automobile insurance policy in good standing since you never know when you may be involved in an accident with a driver who has no coverage.
You may need to call upon your own policy to not only repair your car, but possibly take care of your medical bills as well.
It also means that you also are paying a higher premium for your coverage. How much additional premium you are paying is hard to determine, but it is likely to be at least $25 per car per year and that adds up over the years as well.
