Thanksgiving is upon us and many folks are planning to travel for the holiday. Here are a few things to be aware of for your trip.
Prepare your car for the drive and take care of any deferred maintenance issues like oil changes rotating or replacing your tires and generally going over everything – fluids, filters, spare tire and brakes to make sure your car is fully prepared for the trip.
Look at the weather forecast for the time you will be away. If inclement weather is likely, make sure you prepare for it. That may mean buying snow tires, or even chains for very difficult conditions, stocking your car with bottled water and at least a little bit of food in the form of non-perishable dried foods.
If you plan to take side trips on you way to or from Grandma’s house make sure that you plan those out as well.
Allow plenty of time so that you won’t be rushed when you get back on the road.
Make sure that your phone is fully charged for the trip, or take a charging cable with you in the car and that relatives or friends are generally aware of your plans. That way if you don’t show up on time there will be someone who is aware that you may be missing.
Most of all, have a great and safe Thanksgiving with your family.
